Profile

Ms. Seiko Kakogawa was born in Kumamoto, Japan. After graduating from Kunitachi College of Music, she worked in Tokyo as a piano and eurhythmics instructor. In 1991, she moved to Austria to study in the Music Education Department at the Vienna Conservatory[AI1] . In 1994, after marriage, she relocated to Bangkok, Thailand, where she has continued to live for many years.
Since 2004, she has organized the “Fureai Talk Concert” in Bangkok, a concert series designed to help parents and children enjoy music together. From 2008 to 2011, she contributed to the planning of the same concert series hosted by the Japanese Association in Thailand. In 2013, she opened Salon hors du Temps, a cultural salon in her home that welcomes people to gather, learn, and connect through music and the arts. She continues her engagement in concert planning, cultural exchange, and music-based social contribution activities, while teaching piano in parallel.
Through these experiences, Ms. Kakogawa has developed a deep sense of gratitude toward Thailand, where she has been supported by many people over the years. Guided by her wish to “support the future of children in Thailand through the power of music,” she is committed to connecting people and communities through musical activities.

Heart for You Foundation (Thailand)

During her many years living in Thailand, Ms. Kakogawa witnessed significant disparities in educational environments between regions, as well as the reality that many children have little or no access to music. Facing situations with no instruments, no classes, and no instructors, she felt a natural desire to “bring the power of music” to these children.

To give shape to this vision, she established the Heart for You Foundation in 2021. The foundation cherishes the moment when children touch an instrument for the first time and discover the joy of creating sound. Its activities include supporting music classes in schools and communities, donating musical instruments and pianos, and facilitating cultural and musical exchanges between young people and musicians from Japan and Thailand. The foundation aims to create spaces where children can express themselves, connect with others, and nurture hope for the future through music.

NPO  Shine for You (Japan)

Motivated by the desire to support activities in Thailand, Ms. Kakogawa established the NPO Shine for You in Japan in 2023. Under the mission “Bringing light to the world through music, and helping you shine,” the organization engages in international exchange, educational support, and cultural initiatives, serving as a bridge between Japan and Thailand.

In 2023 and again in 2025, the organization supported the performances of the Immanuel Orchestra held in Japan, composed of young musicians raised in the slum communities of Thailand, and contributed to the realization of their tours. Through these efforts, Shine for You continues to promote the message that music has the power to bring light and hope to people and communities.
